5 best mindsets for future success, I hear you ask? Read on…
Life can be an odd, challenging, fickle thing.
There are undoubtedly times where we all feel like we’re not in control of our destiny.
The thing is: despite that feeling, life is still, and always will be, what you make of it.
How you want it to go and how successful you are in achieving your goals is ultimately up to you.
It’s fair to say that life gets almost immediately better when you stop viewing it as a chore, and instead as something that you can work at.
It’s about never giving up and continuing in the face of all obstacles.
And there will be many obstacles. Obstacles that will test you, push you to the brink.
With that said, it all comes down to your mindset. So, here are the 5 best mindsets for future success I think are really important to have:
- Always Be Curious
- Never Lose Your Passion
- Accept That Plans Don’t Always Work
- Ensure You Have Momentum
- See Obstacles As Stones To Step On
Always Be Curious
I was once told that you should never, ever stop asking questions. It’s only years later I realised why this was so important.
The individual that is curious is always learning and always growing. They see everything as a challenge, an obstacle that can eventually be surmounted.
Being curious means you want to learn, you want to discover, and you will only benefit as a result.
Einstein once said:
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day.”
Never Lose Your Passion
Being passionate or having a passionate mindset is really important to achieve your goals.
Why?
Because you will always want to get up in the morning, you will always want to do your best, and you will always be eager and excited for the next step.
You will be forever updating yourself in pursuit of your dream.
Being enthusiastic or excited about something will mean you won’t see it as a chore at all; instead, time will fly by as you do everything you can to succeed.
A.R. Rahman states:
“Success comes to those who dedicate everything to their passion in life.”
Accept That Plans Don’t Always Work
Nothing is perfect, not you, or they or I.
Perfect is a fictional construct that can never be realised. The sooner you understand that the more you can start to live again.
What do I mean? I mean stop beating yourself up because you made a mistake, or because your ‘best-laid plans’ didn’t work out. Plans will regularly fail. You will regularly fail.
In fact, it’s best to plan a plan for when your first three fail. What contingency plans do you have? How are you going to deal with that situation when it happens?
John Steinback famously said:
“And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.”
Ensure You Have Momentum
Accepting that we are in fact on a journey is the best way to view life.
Life is about giving it a go, failing, and then giving it another go. Repeat, and repeat, and repeat. Giving up after failure is most definitely a failure in itself.
Picking yourself back up and trying again? That’s how you succeed. Even if fifty more failures happen, you’ll change direction and try again until you succeed.
It’s about having that continual momentum on your journey and making sure it never stops until the very end.
Rhonda Byrne believes:
“You are energy, and energy cannot be created or destroyed. Energy just changes form.”
See Obstacles As Stones To Step On
So you have curiosity, you have passion, you have energy, and you accept that plans don’t always work. What else is there to ensure you succeed?
The final mindset is to look forward to the obstacles that life throws at you. Yes really. See them as stepping stones, a way to evolve yourself, a trial, a learning experience.
Don’t complain too much, move on, and remember that every obstacle you come across is blocking the path you need to walk on to eventual success.
If you persist, you will win.
Colin R. Davis says there is little difference between failure and success:
“The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.”
